Is the classic controller pro connected by bluetooth or using a usb adapter?
Is everything genuine nintendo or third party?
When its stuck if you move the control does the problem go away?

Bluetooth(Which is really cool by the way)
All is genuine. The Wii Mote is the one that came with the system. The classic
controller is the one special one that came bundled with Golden Eye.
The problem does go away, but not based off of anything I do with the
controller. I can let it go, I can move sticks, mash buttons, and nothing seems
to affect it. Eventually it stops, and I can continue the game.
I wanted to add, that it does appear that I can influence the problem. If I
move the stick I can alter the movement, but not completely. No matter what I
do, I am destined to go to the lower right corner of the field. But trying to
change direction of my player might result in a different angle to get there.

while it doing it do the buttons and the other stick appear to be working
correctly?
Next time it does it try unplugging the classic controller pro and plugging it
back in.

The buttons don't operate correctly. There seems to be a reaction, but not what
you would expect. For example trying to pass results in a sound(don't remember
what but I think a pass sound) but the ball stays with the player.
I'll get more detailed notes about what is happening and I'll try the whole
"unplug it and plug it back in" idea.

Tried Super Mario Sunshine also no problems.
Tried to do as suggested and unplug and plug controller, and I couldn't get the
game to do it again.
I am starting to believe what happened is my controller wasn't plugged into the
Wiimote well.
It might be wise to close this item. I'll reopen if I see the problem again. As
I can't replicate it, it would be impossible to troubleshoot.
