Hello thesimp
I cannot reproduce it. It works well for me.
How did you set the font in both cases? I tell you because I realized that the
textbox associate to font is editable and shouldn't, simply because changes
applied
directly to it will be ignored. Font must be set using the corresponding button.

I set the font type with the font button and then select "10" as the size. See
attached screenshots of the configuration_options and the default settings.
The problem is also shown in the screenshots. Even after restarting Keynote the
font
in the main screen is MS Sans serif 8, while in both the configuration screens
I've
set the font to Courier New 10.

Attachments:
Problem resolved. It seems that inside the *.knt file the font size is stored.
And
Keynote-NF per default uses 8pt fonts.
Fix:
1: export all data (nodes/notes) to *.txt format.
2: close the *.knt file.
3: set the fonts to the desired type/size in Keynote-NF.
4: create new *.knt file.
5: import data.
Now all new Notes and Nodes will use the chosen font type/size.

the solution by thesimp on June 16 seems to be a cumbersome process. Can the
software
be corrected to recognise such changes. At present it seems changing the
default once
a file is created achieves nothing. I've been annoyed by this for some time.
If the process is followed, it would need to be re-done every time one wanted to
change the default
I have not attempted the process yet ... if doing so, what options should be
selected
for the export
thanks

This issue definitely still persists in KeyNote 1.7.8 NF.
To make things worse, the Export/Import function suggested by thesimp is
terribly
broken. Importing the .txt data doesnt work. It just dumps the raw data as a
single
new note, but doesnt recreate the whole tree hierarchy. It's the same as if you
opened up the exported file in a Notepad and copy/pasted it into KeyNote.

It appears that the defaults are used only for new Tree notes (Tabs) created
after the default is changed. For existing tabs, since keynote files are text
files, this can be fixed by opening the keynote file in a text editor and
changing it manually. Below I've included the first two sections of my keynote
file, showing the header section, and the definitions for the first tree (tab).
The two lines
FN=Arial
FS=12
set the Note defaults for this tab.
Further down the lines
TN=Arial
TZ=10
set the tree defaults for this tab.
Hope this helps some.

I have been looking for this to set the font size.
Thanks.

Since I run into the same problem, I tried the above approach but I have to
confess I am lost.
I want as well the feature to changing the default settings of the font for a
new node. The above mentioned workaround to open the note-file in a text-editor
is not really valid, cause the knt-file is encrypted. So ==> how to open it
properly to apply the above mentioned changes?
