Out of memory error when opening Epub file

1. Open ebookdroid 
2. Open Epub file 
3.

What is the expected output?
Epub file opens for reading

What do you see instead?
Pop-up error saying Java.lang.out-of-memory-error

What version of the product are you using?
2.2.4

On what operating system?
4.0.4

What device are you using?
Lenovo k860 idea phone 

Please provide any additional information below.
File size is 28.3 MB and 1,531 pages

Thank you for document. It is really huge. We did not think that epub documents 
can contain >1500 spine entries.

I think whole epub engine should be rewritten to handle such documents.

I am sorry but no quick fix will be available, but we will try to improve such 
document handling.
