I'm encountering this kind of issue. As soon as i connect NIKON camera to gphoto2 it goes to live view. I woould like to keek liveview of to not overuse the sensor of camera.

There is any settings that I'm doing wrong?

Camera: NIKON D3500

libgphoto2 and gphoto2 version - last version

Thank you.

Does this happen if you start gphoto, or even when you only connect it?

if it happens when you start gphoto2, can you attach a debugtrace?

libgphoto2 is not intentionally enabling liveview if you just connect or run non-capture commands.

Hello Marcus, Thank you for your fast reply.

I can give you more detail. Gphoto2 is running behind this project (photobooth project https://github.com/PhotoboothProject/photobooth). Gphoto2 is installed on a debian11 machine.

Actually when I connect the cable, camera goes immediately in liveview mode. When I take picture in goes back to normal mode and after 5-10 second it goes back to liveview mode.

Can you help me with debug trace?

Thank you Enrico

I checked the source code, and it currently looks like it takes a picture on startup for some chroma keying purposes.

Also I think photobooth does preview enabling on purpose when you plug it in. Either way, I think it is more caused by photobooth switching on preview mode.

Thank you again for fast reply, I will take a quick look to photobooth code with photobooth people.

In case I will make a quick test on installing only gphoto 2 in the way to exclude that from causing live view.

Thank you again for your amazing work on this project and thank you for your time!

Enrico
