Reset Canon and Nikon Cameras to factory default #216

Resetting cameras to default values needs time to zip through the menus. I would like to automize this via USB. Is there a chance to remotely reset Canon and Nikon cameras with gphoto?

E.g. for Canon cameras you need to perform "clear settings" and "clear camera user settings" in the configuration menu and in addition "clear all custom func. (C.Fn.)" in the customer customer configuration menu.

Are these functions accessible through the PTP protocol and can they be implemented into libphoto?

On Nikon DSLR, i do not see indications of it. Canon DSLR has a lot of undocumented opcodes, where such an option could be hidden.

So I do not know for either.

If you have indications that another application can do this, i can look at reverse engineering it.
