Podcast exists / unknown podcast #330

I have a few missing podcasts in my list. If I go to add them, they are already added in the database as unknown podcast. For example:

gpodder.net should be able to get the .rss feed and populate its database, correct?

gpodder.net now lists the podcast at https://gpodder.net/podcast/the-wildly-unexplained

When you subscribe to or search for a podcast on gpodder.net, it will fetch the data from the RSS feed and populate the database. There is some delay though, which might explain why it was listed as unknown podcast initially.

Is everything working now correctly?

I still have a few podcasts that show up as Unknown Podcast. I subscribed to these through AntennaPod, not gpodder.net, so it would have affected casts coming in from that source.

AntennaPod should sync its podcasts to gpodder.net, so those should eventually work as well. Can you list those podcasts here so that we can have a look?

Could you please clarify where those podcasts are shown as unknown? On gpodder.net they're all available with data:

The problem was on gpodder.net. I just checked and they're all showing data now. You must have the magic touch.

I encounter this problem too. e.g.

On client app it's good. On gpodder.net it's labeled unnamed. But if I search for the rss url on gpodder.net, the data on my subscription list will be updated. Appears that gpodder.net didn't retrive pod metadata for some reasons.

Same here.... Added the podcasts on the 14th of may (imported them via AntennaPod) and still show as unknown. Most of the added ones are Dutch Podcasts that weren't already on gpodder.net. Screenshot_2020-05-17 Podcast Subscriptions — gpodder net

I was able to get gpodder.net to retrieve metadata for most of my "Unknown podcast" entries by submitting the feed URL to the Search form. It is a bug that the retrieval doesn't happen automatically.

49, #89, #109, #330, #439 and #485 all seem to be duplicates (or at least closely related).
