1 month ago Eventually (READ: v6) all of the unused sounds will be removed. The only reason we have so many freaking sounds that are totally unused in the code is because that way we don't have to tell people to manually reformat/delete their SD cards when they go to update. Starting with v6, we will.
Once the sound effects are cleaned up we can make duplicates for the different operating modes, sure.
What would you like to add in terms of software changes?
Would it be possible to have duplicate sounds in the library but with different names in order to stop custom sound effects from bleeding between the two modes? for example if you change 001_bootup to be the brass plate pack sound then it now bleeds into afterlife when booting from the wand (as of 5.3.2), same for if you edit the shutdown as they both use the 348_pack_afterlife_shutdown_alt sound (the original afterlife shutdown file #036 appears to now be unused so it could be reused for this).
Would this request involve any specific hardware?
