Short story: I'm going to send you a check in the mail.
Here is the text from the About page:
Participants can withdraw funds from their Gittip account at any time, though this is currently a manual process. Postage and/or fees for withdrawing money are charged at cost.
And here is the text from the profile page:
To arrange for a check or PayPal withdrawal, email chad@zetaweb.com or call +1-412-925-4220. Postage and/or fees are charged at cost.
Automated withdrawals are in the works. If you can program, you’re welcome to help.
The ticket for automated withdrawals is #22. Yes, they will be US-only at first. What is the best way to support people outside the US for automated withdrawals?
I've created a new ticket for streamlining payouts by check (#190).
I would say that something like paypal would work for automated payments. But I have no experience with it except from a user point of view. But it is supported outside of the US. Yes, you would pay a small amount to paypal, but it's better then nothing.
The text on the profile page is not there for me (most likely because I have no tips?). And I missed the intention of the paragraph in the about page.
Note: I love the idea of micro-donations. But I think some details about who can and cannot get money trough this system are important. I know it's in development, but it would be nice to have the current limitations clear for the users.
Pruning. We now have FAQs addressing this.
I'm from the Netherlands. And I opted-in on gittip a minute ago to see if there where more details hidden after the opt-in. But I still could not find the information I was looking for.
Most important, if people tip me (which I think is a good idea) how is the money going to end up with me. Not with me on a gittip ballance, but on my own account. And if this is possible for people not based in the US. (As it is quite often the case that services are US only)
