Top priority today is on Balanced Shutdown: converting the few people that have been using ACH for payouts over to PayPal (https://github.com/gratipay/gratipay.com/issues/3567), because Zipmark isn't coming together (https://github.com/gratipay/gratipay.com/issues/3491), and last week was our last week to run ACH on Balanced.

Second-highest priority is on Pivot: bringing back account closing (https://github.com/gratipay/gratipay.com/issues/3461) and then https://github.com/gratipay/gratipay.com/issues/3511, because user pressure for that has mounted significantly and it's the biggest thing yet to clean up from Gratipay 2.0—apart from Payroll, that is, which has morphed into Gratipay 2.1. (History and subscription pages are the next-most important things to clean up after account closing is back.)

Looking at Gratipay 2.1, the biggest news since last week is that Gratipay 2.1 requires strong identity verification (IDV), because employers and employees/contractors need to know who each other are. In other words, we don't just need IDV for AML in order to participate more directly in the global financial system (e.g., getting on the ACH network). We also need IDV in order to bring back Payroll. If we implement it now for Payroll while offloading AML by using PayPal (and Dwolla?) for payouts, then when we have enough volume to warrant reapproaching Transpay, etc., we'll already have a strong AML story.

Oh, and rescuing our operations account from Citizens (#240) is also a priority. :-)

I've seen Ross's diary, but didn't have the time to finish it - it was heavy reading despite of simplicity, very consuming. If I smoked tobacco, I'd have to light a cigarette for several times to put myself into the cloud of smoke for thinking.
