PDF Printing NullPointerException #11

I've installed a virtual PDF printer (sudo apt-get install cups-pdf) on the latest virtual machine (link) provided by @GallaFrancesco. When I try to print something with it I get a popup error saying "Could not print the document. null" which I believe tracks down to this line.

I've already upgraded all packages to the latest version (sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade).
