Big README add on in order to explain and support the new modularized authentication. Added a 3 line bug fix that was causing some errors, and removed code that wasn't being used.
All of the other changes were submitted in a previous pull request to a different branch. This will merge all the changes from the authentication-optional branch into the master branch. This has been tested and works for all cases locally.
