Looks good! Think you could make a tag or text a bit bigger? I wonder how legible it'll be at that size.

Also, on the main site, think the tag could kind of hang off the header onto the main content pane? Like make the header have a big transparent strip under it except for the beta tag?

Just a thought. Totally not worth it if it complicates the css/html too much.

But actually, that was an excellent idea Greg. And quite easy to implement. Pull the latest event-icons to see what I mean.
