Bilge pump float switch and monitoring #15

Currently I have installed a switch (and proper fuse) so that I'm able to turn off the automatic bilge pump in the marina at night (for noise reasons). The pump is lying in the bilge, not mounted upright, not screwed into a base of any kind. I've got an appropriate float switch for this pump ready to install.

Some relevant reading:

At some point it would be nice to know how often the pump turns on, to see if water intrusion increases at any point. This will involve installing a data logging on a relay to log each time the pump turns on.

Before any open water cruising, I may want to be able to use the engine as a bilge pump, making it suck away the bilge water as cooling water, via a valve:
