Failing XYZ Cal #130

Closed seedrick closed 2 years ago

I have a custom Full Bear build sourced pretty much entirely from AliExpress (except the printed parts, I ran those myself). I'm using BearExxa, but with an E3D Volcano instead of a V6. I've edited the max Z in the firmware linked in the assembly guide to be 203 instead of 210. Everything is OK so far until the XYZ calibration. It runs through all 4 points and I can see that the probe sees them since the light flickers. The probe is also OK from the check in the menu. I've tried adjusting the inductive probe, squaring everything--the result is the same.

Looks like it is not a firmware issue then and with all clone hardware it is hard to debug. A common issue is that the clone bed doesn't have properly designed probe circle and it is causing issue but I can't confirm this is your case.

Any way to test that? If I can confirm, I can take it up with the seller.

EDIT: I've tried three different beds and two different PINDA V2 probes. Result is the same. What else should I look at?

EDIT 2: Found the problem! I was using this mod but didn't move the Z axis back! I was supposed to use the included Z-helper to adjust. That was an incredible pain to find out what the issue was--the error message should be more indicative. That's not your fault though, you can close this and I'll try to help them fix it upstream at Prusa. The XYZ cal fail needs WAY more verbiage--there's about a trillion things that will give you the exact same message.
