since we missed it for 2017, here is the next important date:

• 2018 January/February (B): Open source organizations apply

todo:

• select mentors
• places to look for work:
  • bugtracker
  • roadmap

(A) must be doable packages, depending on their skills, and for the time the GSoC goes (B) probably same as in 2017, see here

We spoke about this in the 30th Gridcoin community hangout, I think if you were to apply for the google summer of code to work on BOINC core dev work you could perhaps get funded, but what would be most likely to be accepted is creating a BOINC project for distributing Apache Spark or Google Tensorflow - one of the BARK (Apache spark over BOINC) students was hired by google...
