MRC Icon Poll #252

Introduction

Manual rewards claim or MRC is the latest feature that will be introduced in the next mandatory upgrade for Gridcoin. Users currently need to have enough Gridcoin to stake a block and earn research rewards (i.e. get rewarded for crunching) or switch to a pool. With MRC it will be possible to get the rewards just by clicking a button! This will considerably lower the hurdle for newcomers and enable crunching under one's own name with an absolutely insubstantial amount of GRC. The idea for this has been circulating for a long time, but now Core developer Jim Owens has implemented the feature and it is currently being put through its paces in the test network. A more detailed description can be found found in the following pull requests PR1 and PR2.

The Poll

MRC will introduce a new type of transaction and therefore a new icon is needed for the GUI. I and some other community members have put up a bounty for the design of a new icon. Now the community is asked to vote on which icon should be used in the wallet. Since this is not a protocol change or a funding issue, only an opinion poll will be created. There are no requirements regarding the active vote weight. When the user clicks the MRC button and thus requests their research rewards, a special transaction is sent (a contract). This is a special outgoing transaction and should therefore also be recognizable by the icon. This is what this icon is for.

The poll has ended and the icon with the number 7 has won. The corresponding PR has already been merged and the bounty has been paid. The issue can therefore be closed.
