Broad Requirements

Visitors who click on "Help! I'm in Crisis" would be taken to a page with the two most important crisis resources at the top: the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and the Crisis Text Line. These are recognized as the best crisis resources available at this time.

Below those resources but on the same page, visitors would see a heading that said "More Resources" and seven different rectangles, each representing a subgroup of respondents.

Visitors who click on one of the rectangles would be taken to a new page. Three of our specific populations have more than one crisis resource: Mental Illness & Substance Abuse has two, LGBTQ+ has six, and Teens/Young Adults has five (see slides 3,4,5,6 of PowerPoint)

Once visitors click on any of our rectangles and are taken to that page, the first thing they will see is information about the hotline(s) they are looking for. But below that, I thought it would be a good idea to provide helpful links to other resources. We could include a feature similar to the one used by the Cake website, where visitors are shown additional resources that may be appealing to them. I was thinking that for almost all of the groups we provide crisis resources for, we could give them the opportunity of clicking on a link for the following: Coping Strategies for Dealing with Grief, Self-Care, Support Groups/Peer Support, and Therapy.

We can also target specialized information to specific groups of people that would be highly useful to them. For example, those who click on the Alzheimer's hotline could be given a link to our Featured Topics on Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia. Those who click on LGBTQ+ or Deaf/Hard of Hearing could be directed to mental health resources in our Underserved Populations category, which I think would be extremely valuable for them.
