Replicated.
Correction, latest beta fixes this. (Didn't see the beta til after this.)
Still seeing issue in MetaZ-1.0.beta-35, others also noted the issue still exists in beta-35 in issue 174.
Apologies for being a me-too, but I'm seeing the same issue. Let me know if there's any additional info I can add to help troubleshoot.
When you say it freezes what exactly do you mean? Are we talking like that it beachball freezes or is it more like search or save isn't working? Could one of you maybe make a screen recording with QuickTime Player and send it to me by mail or something?
Apologies - I hate people who give the least amount of information and then expect the dev to know what they're talking about, and here I was doing exactly that.
Pretty much whenever I add any file or selection of files (drag and drop, or using the file picker), I get this:
And that's it. No manner of force-quitting or other types of files (mp4 or mov) make a difference.
That said - this is on the current prod version of MetaZ on High Sierra 10.13.2 Beta (17C83a).
For the record, when trying the latest beta on here the files do load properly. I'll check the rest of the process.
I noticed that once I've tagged a file, Meta Z seems stable. However - it's when I first add a "raw" file that I saw the freezes. I used MacXDVD or Handbrake to rip the DVD, and when one of those files was loaded into MetaZ I see the freezes. Unfortunately I don't have the original files any longer, so I can't create a video.
I'm also having the same problem. My work flow is as follows: Rip DVD in Handbrake, which loads file (.m4v) in iTunes / iTunes Media / Movies. Select file in MetaZ with file picker. End up with same situation as snorbaard's screenshot 5 days ago. This procedure has worked in Yosemite, Sierra but stopped working in High Sierra. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Much appreciated. Everything works. Today is my first day trying Meta Z and I'm experiencing the same problem. I am on OS X Mojave (10.14.1).
I drag and drop, or do file>open any .mp4 file and the app just shows that circle and doesn't show the video listed or any metadata. The app doesn't seem frozen though. I can still click around. I just can't add files.
@seanahrens You need the latest version. On the new site: https://metaz.io/ the download link should always automatically point to the latest version.
Using High Sierra 10.13.1, and when files are added to the queue, the app freezes. I see a dialog that says, "Wheee Opened". After that the app is unresponsive. I have seen this behavior is both the latest released version and MetaZ-1.0.beta-35.
