Sorry if wrong section, but is MetaZ working on Catalina, @griff? #206

I haven't tested it but I am now aware of any issue that prevents it from working.

parshy commented 4 years ago

Thanks for your reply. "Not" aware?

griff commented 4 years ago

Well no one has reported any issues about it not working. But that might just be because no one has tested it on Catalina

parshy commented 4 years ago

Great, thanks for the clarification on your typo ("now").

I'd be lost without your app. I have tested many others, but none are anywhere near to my liking or as good or as efficient and as yours. So, thank you. Great work.

Does Meta-Z now have the option for cover art that supports Catalina's switch from iTunes to the TV app? Such as the change in orientation from portrait to landscape - a la Apple TV's 1280x720 pixel (or multiples thereof) images?

I can confirm that 1.0.beta-49 DOES work with Catalina public release.

Hmmm. Maybe I need to reinstall my copy of 1.0 - 49 or trash the prefs because while it worked fine in Mojave, it didn't work in the Catalina Public Beta and it's not working for me in the release version of Catalina, either (hangs on adding a file).

It works for me but I having issues with the TV app recognizing the artwork the MetaZ put into the file. It sees all the other data, just not the artwork

sacarmic commented 4 years ago

More investigation shows that is it only files in the last 1-2 years that have artwork issues. Older files are fine.

crow1307 commented 4 years ago

I've found that if you delete a file from the library but keep the file, and then add it to the library again then the artwork shows up just fine. The question that I have is if I check the box to copy it to iTunes will it copy the file into my apple tv app?

It was working fine for me. Until today. It launches, loads files, attaches the data, but then when I try to write the files, it fails. It shows the files in the queue, but it does not remove them from the "files to write" section, then it fails to write anything (perpetual "waiting to start" message in the queue).

I discovered that the issue I was having was due to the lack of episode art. Which is curious because I don't recall that specifically being a problem before Catalina. It is further curious because MetaZ isn't pulling the episode art for some episodes (even though I can see in the TVDB that it exists), thus triggering the problem if one does not manually paste an episode image into MetaZ before running the process. Again, I don't recall that specifically being a problem before Catalina.

Another issue that seems to have cropped up for me on Catalina is duplication of episodes when being added to the new Apple TV app. MetaZ seems to be copying episodes to the app twice, resulting it two copies of episodes being added, thus requiring the duplicates to be remove from the TV app. I don't recall that ever happening before Catalina.

My conclusion is that, although MetaZ works under Catalina, there are issues.

@LDMartin1959 the empty image writing bug is an old one that got triggered more often when TheTVDB plugin stopped returning images. But it is now fixed.

I have also done a lot of work lately on fixing Catalina bugs and rewriting the search plugins. The latest fixes switches the integration with iTunes to now integrate with TV app instead. And while it should automatically change over to using the TV app action plugins on first run you might want to check the preferences to see that the plugins you want enabled still are enabled.
