Update info from MyGene.info #1166

Two points.

  1. Can we improve the formatting of the gene aliases we get from MyGene.info. Currently looks like this:
aliases
  1. It would be useful to add info from Entrez Gene's "Phenotypes" section. For example, see this example from the BRAF page:
phenotypes

Part 1 is redundant with https://github.com/griffithlab/civic-client/issues/1321

Related to #1342

I don't think the phenotype information is available from mygene.info. Are you suggesting to pull this in directly from Entrez and displaying it in the mygene.info box?

malachig commented 4 years ago

Hmmm, I was definitely imagining this info would go in the mygene.info box. And just assuming they would have it available. I think it would be cleaner if we could get them to add it to their API.

I have requested this info be added to MyGeneInfo: https://github.com/biothings/mygene.info/issues/93

@susannasiebert @malachig I don't suppose there are any more suggestions we can provide to the MyGeneinfo team at the link Malachi mentioned? biothings/mygene.info#93 They provide some insight but it doesn't seem the solution we were looking for.
