CIViC Training Program #15

ahwagner commented 6 years ago

Through collaborations outlined in Aim 3, we will establish curation standards, best practices and standard operating procedures for the development of CIViC interpretations for clinical use. In order to promote the distribution of these standards and practices as well as promote more widespread adoption, we will develop online training materials and documentation. We will utilize in-person training to promote key skill development for trainees at multiple levels. We have already been able to leverage PhD, MD/PhD and undergraduate training programs to curate and build content. We will extend this experience to engaging clinical fellows associated with the Molecular Genetic Pathology and Laboratory Genetics and Genomics programs at Washington University (Letter: Drs. Neidich and Heusel). This will increase their familiarity with and use of somatic variant interpretation standards and provide valuable feedback to our training resource development as well as inform the next generation of laboratory directors in the use of CIViC. A CME-accredited workshop will be developed, modeled after existing workshops Informatics for RNA-seq (rnaseq.wiki, 2012-Present) and Genomic Data Visualization and Interpretation (genviz.org, 2017-Present) and distributed through http://pmbio.org/.
