Thanks for the pull request. Can I ask for some details on system this has been a problem on? It's been working like this for a little while on many systems, so I'm curious to know how it's only come to light as a problem now. For me, I don't see any R welcome message when calling Rscript
e.g.
-> % ~/Applications/R/R-devel/bin/Rscript -e "R.version"

arch x86_64
os linux-gnu
system x86_64, linux-gnu

language R
version.string R Under development (unstable) (2020-11-23 r79474)
nickname Unsuffered Consequences
I also don't see the --slave
option listed for either R or Rscript. The closest is maybe --silent
.
R --help
Usage: R [options] [< infile] [> outfile]
or: R CMD command [arguments]
Start R, a system for statistical computation and graphics, with the
specified options, or invoke an R tool via the 'R CMD' interface.

--options accepted are
--help Print usage and exit
--version Print version and exit
--verbose Print information on progress
--default-packages=list
Where 'list' is a comma-separated set
of package names, or 'NULL'
or options to R, in addition to --no-echo --no-restore, such as
--save Do save workspace at the end of the session
--no-environ Don't read the site and user environment files
--no-site-file Don't read the site-wide Rprofile
--no-init-file Don't read the user R profile
--restore Do restore previously saved objects at startup
--vanilla Combine --no-save, --no-restore, --no-site-file
--no-init-file and --no-environ
This ia a similar problem to rhdf5filters:PR7. In this case, when Rscript is called within
Makevars
it should include the option--slave
. If not implemented, then the installation fails because RHDF5_INCLUDE would include the entire welcome message.
