Hi Ewan, You can add a set of image panels to an existing layout by dragging an image file onto an existing figure (either over and existing layout or an image panel). New panels are added by this method and a second layout is NOT generated by this action. If you drag to an empty spot on the worksheet it will add an independent layout.
There is also a way to move items between independent layouts, it is not the intended way to make complex figures. If for some reason you absolutely need to move items between layouts go to "Edit<Show Layers". This will open a layers window for your worksheet. In it you can see layouts and move items between layers. Each layout will only 'see' the objects within its own layer (or a sublayer). I do not recommend moving image panels between layers.
Thanks for using QuickFigures, Greg

Hi, QuickFigures is amazingly helpful, thanks for all the hard work on this. I have had several problems when moving images from their own independent layouts into new panels of a multi-row layout. After I have done this the switch row and switch column widgets either cause the panels to permanently disappear or they just don't move. Is this because of how I have set this up or is it a bug? How do you recommend adding images to new panels in the same layout as existing images?
Thanks,
Ewan

That makes sense, thanks for your help,

Hi Greg,
Just following up on this as I've been encountering these issues too, but I don't believe that I'm making a completely new independent layout?
Sometimes it completely disappears, sometimes the image is extremely small and outside the field of view--the canvas instead stretches out horizontally.
I'm also not sure if this is independent to Fiji run on MacOS?
Hi rs7911, Thanks for reaching out. Could you please tell me more about the problem you are having? Do you also see this issue when using the switch row and switch column features? or under some other circumstances? It is not likely to be specific to MacOs.
Probably, you are trying something that is different from the expected way to move image panels but can't be sure without more information. Once I know what exactly is happening, I can start looking for the root of the issue and fix it.
Best, G
PS: You can use the show layers option to see what is in your worksheet (including extra layouts).
