README: Explain the structure of the git submodules. #36

I noted that the repository structure might is a little hard to understand when you only take a look at it. This patch adds a short explanation what have been my original thoughts when I created it. What do you think: Should it be added to the README or would you prefer some kind of "developer howto"?
