During our discussion the topic of extensibility has been evoked and the fact that Grist should remain mean and lean yet extensible through plugins.
My thoughts were in fact inspired by the awesomeObsidian which I have been using for several months now and which could also be a great source of inspiration for Grist, notably in the way it handles extensibility through a two-tiers system of plugins:
Core plugins that are published by the developers and cover the base functions of Obsidian, which is great because you can tailor it to your needs and to the power of your computing environment
Community plugins, which require to switch to an "insecure mode" but give a completely other dimension to Obsidian, transforming it into a platform for widely diverse uses.
