Migrating to readthedocs #1

I would be available for migrating the documentation to readthedocs, but cannot promise to maintain it in the long-term. Would there be any interst for such a case?

Feel free to do whatever you like, everything is appreciated. :) There is also #2 with some content - if it would be easier if you can directly push to this repository, just let me know.
