Research Tabs Discoverability #3353

Brought up in office hours 5/11 by Edgar

The new v5 version of Tabs no longer has a line that extends across the container. Edgar's concern is that you can lose track of the information hierarchy.

This could be a potential research opportunity where we could connect with Katy’s team and do some research on Tabs. Are people finding the Tabs or is it getting lost? If we only have 2 Tabs, is Tabs the right thing to use?

The deliverables on this should simply be a note to Kelly saying "Hey, if there are upcoming usability studies (probably most likely related to any services living under GLCS - or service details from service catalog in platform) where the app is using v5 theme and screens contain tabs, we'd be interested in knowing whether the tabs are discoverable and recognizable, or do users have trouble locating them? Tabs have new typography and styling and we want to ensure they don't get lost on a page. This should not be a dedicated study, simply a piggy-back on another study where if there's an opportunity to observe or have a task associated with accessing another tab."

I reached out to Kelly and she said she will let her team know and reach out if she gets any data or knows of any studies.
