Dedicated frame in design tool • Create a dedicated frame in the Figma component working file to explain key decisions. • Duplicate and fork ideas in the design tool to keep a record of exploration. • Be messy on the artboard but document key decisions to provide context.

Single file per component • Have designers keep a detailed record of design iterations, comments, and revisions in a single file per component. • Keep a single file for each component where all decisions are documented. Make it a part of tickets to consolidate and document the changes in a log in that file.

Properly maintained files • Maintain properly organized files with quick summaries and longer descriptions of design iterations. • Consider how the visual solution responds to the questions posed in discovery and write a note or summary to provide context.
