For thow who wants to know: Yes it works with the home 3 app but you can't make automations with it. So with a workaround I created a scene that presses the appletv menu button in a different app: Controller for Homekit. Now i have a fully automatable scene to work with. And I can control it how I please.
Found an even better solution: Somehow the alternate-playpause button and alternate-input-controls or the macro's couldn't be used together, that's why i couldn't get it to work for automation. But by pairing the same apple tv twice i could use the the first 'device' to do the alternate play-pause button and the second to do the alternate buttons and macro's. So now i have the best of both worlds. Fully automatable triggers without third party apps. I still think it should have worked straight out of the box but if it works, it works.
I know that it isn't officially supported, but i hate elgato's UI. Is somebody using it or does somebody know if it works? I almost bought "Home 3" but the price is a bit steep if it doesn't work. Otherwise i'll have to live with elgato...
