XBox not turning on - Githubissues

Hello -

I'm really interested in using this Plugin but have had no luck in getting it to work. All I want to do is add a tile to HomeKit to allow me to turn on/off my Xbox Series X. Note I have two other XBoxes, all on the same network connected to ethernet and use the same UserID if that matters. Would eventually like to get the other XBoxes added but need to get one to work first.

I followed the procedures on GitHub and notably when I click on the Start Authorization button, then try to Authorize Console, I am prompted to log in to my Xbox account but then am confronted with the following from any type of webbrowser I try to use:

I first get a message after logging in: Are you trying to sign in to Homebridge-Smartglass? Only continue if you downloaded the app from a store or website that you trust.
Then I see: _Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:8080.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web._

I'm not sure if this authorization process is necessary to make this work, but without it I cannot get the HomeKit tiles nor clicking the tiles in Homebridge to turn on or off the XBox. Would appreciate any guidance or help you can provide.

No need to authorize the console for Power ON/OFF, only if You want to load list apps/games from device or switch the apps/games.

Okay - thanks for clarifying. Any suggestions on what I try to make the on/off capability work in both Homebridge and HomeKit?

Yes of course. This is why I first asked about the Authorization Manager which you said it was not needed to enable on/off functionality.

The Xbox has all the proper settings in terms of Power mode as well. Is there anything else I can send to help diagnose the problem? Thx

It’s not a debug log from my plugin, go to plugin settings >> advanced section and enable debug. After this restart Homebridge and try to power ON, then get the log

Looks like your console is not available at 192.168.10.125, are you blocked ports in network, can you ping your console? The problem is in your local network environment.

Hello there.

I went into my router and pinged this IP address and you are correct, I received a message reading “Test Failed”.

The device is successfully connected to the internet (via ethernet) and have no issues accessing the internet while playing the Xbox. As for ports, I do port forwarding on a few addresses but not the one in question so I’m not sure what setting would force a ‘block’ of this address as you described.

I have another Xbox at IP Address 192.168.10.183. When I try pinging that address before adding to Homebridge, the test is Successful. So I tried configuring your PlugIn to use this and the same thing happened (log follows):

Then after doing this I retest the IP address ping and I get another “Test Failed” message.

I am not a home networking expert by any stretch so am limited to understand what this means. I don’t want to waste your time in trying to teach me the basics but if you do have any further suggestions I would welcome them.
