@gsautter this font spacing issue is becoming an increasingly important issue, we might want to give high priority to resolve. It might have more to do with the text in captions. processed with glyphs only (R)

I cannot seem to reproduce this, sorry ... rendering Page 11 comes up with nicely separated words: image

Maybe XML conversion and BLR/Zenodo export (mis-)behave differently, but at least PDF decoding appears to get the word boundaries right.
