I guess the question here would be if it actually did take five years to originally publish this book ... I used to think the date of original publication was more or less a point in time, but not a time span of several years. Might be a book or article series cited as a whole, fair enough, but I guess (and hope) this is one of the very few oddjobs falling in that category. Having (wanting) to nail a single year of publication, what would it even be? The start of the series, or its finish at which the cited fact was definitely out as ink on paper?

@tcatapano How to handle this? And how frequent are such cases in the first place?
