Listen - add lock buttons at talk series level #27

The Listen feature does not currently display 'lock' icons at the series level. It is only displayed at the talk level, below the series. This would be useful, so that the user does not need to drill down into each series.

Note: The create session & add talk feature - does already show the 'lock' icon at the series level (& below), when browsing & selecting a talk for a session. This is helpful

Hmmmm, I think the logic is that there's no real way to preview a series of talks, so it would have to change from lock to nothing. The other reason to keep the current behaviour is that it is an incentive to subscribe. Worth thinking about anyway.

Could you clarify your comments? I'm not sure if I understand fully.

I thought it might be helpful to show the lock (if applicable) at both the series & talk levels. In this way, the two ways of browsing series / talks - from the Listen feature & the Create Session feature - would be consistent & making it easy to know what is locked.

Or maybe some series would have both free & locked talks?

From a business perspective there's this thing of balancing free and subscription content, and one of the things that you can put in the subscription version is less annoyance. So if the user taps through, reads the series description, and then sees that they are subscription only, they are more likely to want to subscribe then if they saw that it was locked, and then didn't read any of that stuff. This is the same reason the Subscribe button on the front screen is so big and ugly.

On the builder screen it's a bit different because the lock alternates to the add button (you can add a series but you can't really directly listen to a series of talks) and so we either would have some series be addable and other be blank, or have the locks.

Got it. Thanks, good point about encouraging subscribers.

(side point - the subscribe button looks OK - just stands out - which it should :-)
