The text immediately after this equation specifies that the term in round
brackets (+192/n_p) is relevant only for parallel mode.
I do agree that such representation is somewhat ambiguous, but I do not know a
better simple way to show memory requirements in a single equation for several
execution modes.

Nobody reads manual in details for a quick estimate, sorry. May be you can try
to use \overbrace or \underbrace LaTeX commands equivalent with "only if
parallel" caption. This will give a quick visual hint inside the formula scope.
