I noticed in your screenshot your device isn't connected to power. By default there is a preference for snowflake to only run when the device is connected to power and Wi-Fi. Did you disable that when you were reporting this bug?
Thanks @bitmold!
I did not disable preference that you mention.
How can I verify that the snowflake proxy is working? I guess through of the falling snowflakes over gui :) If this is correct. In the most recent version (Orbot-16.5.2-BETA-1-tor.0.4.6.7-1-g57add48c-fullperm-universal-release.apk) it works connected and disconnected from the power with the preference that you mention enabled.
That feature is experimental right now and will likely be disabled in the next release of Orbot. There needs to be a way for Orbot to hook into the snowflake proxy and see how many people have been assisted by the device running Orbot.
There are some bugs surrounding this right now concerning the power. https://github.com/guardianproject/orbot/issues/548 please feel free to contribute to this conversation if you have anything to add that's not listed there
@bitmold problem with snowflake seems to be rooted down in shared code since Whonix is not able to use any other bridges then obfs4 as reported by many Insurgo customers.
Bad place for reporting, sorry, but still relevant. Not just an orbot bug.
Hi,
Thanks for add snowflake support on Orbot :)
Setup
Today I downloaded apk Orbot-16.5.1-BETA-2a-tor.0.4.5.9-full perm-arm64-v8a-release.apk. Then I config snowflake via 'Run Snowflake Proxy' enabled. Finally I started Tor:
But I can not see "snowflake proxy mode enabled"
Do I have to wait or take an additional step?
My log
Can you help me?
Thanks, Jacobo
