Cannot move TortoiseGIT controlled folder on windows: folder is in use #1993

Steps will reproduce the problem
1.clone a repository
2.cut and paste the new folder into another location
3.problem: folder is in use by a program cannot be removed 

What is the expected output? 
I would like to move the repo to another location

What do you see instead?

I cannot remove, the repo, folder / files are in use

What version of TortoiseGit ? 1.8.6.0

what operating system?

Windows 8.1

Is there any TortoiseGitXXX (or sh.exe) process in Windows Task Manager?

(Try to close all software that open the file(s) in the folder.)
(Try to reboot.)

this is what I did:

I rebooted the machine many times : problem persists
I tried to switch to windows safe mode: problem persists
I dis installed tortoise HG: problem solved

In task manager I saw tortoise cache manager task

Try to: 
TortoiseGit -> Settings -> Icon Overlays -> In Status cache, Select "Shell 
Extended", "Shell", or "None".

Is git.ext in Windows Task Manager?
If YES, try to End Process on git.exe process.

In Status cache, 

I selected "Shell Extended" :problme persists
I selected "Shell" : Problem persists
I selected "None" : problem persists

In task manager git.ext (or exe ?) is not present

When you set overlay status cache to "Shell Extended"/"Shel"l"/None" but 
"Default", is TGitCache.exe still in Task Manager? (Maybe wait for few seconds.)
If YES, have you tried to kill TGitCache.exe?

Ye retried waiting, problem persists, Ah for the task manager The chache
manager was RotoiseSVNChache.exe

not git one sorry

Seems you installed TortoiseSVN, too.
Try to set TortoiseSVN's Overlay status cache to "None", too.

Please use a tool like ProcessExplorer in order to find out which process has 
open hanldes in the folder in question.

TGit 1.8.8.6 , Xpp SP3

try to delete file yesterday.
pack files are locked.

I closed the handle(LockFile-5.png & LockFile-6.png), files were still locked.
I did "Kill Process" on explorer.exe, then the file was unlicked.

are these helpful?
