oh, and also it would be very useful if there was a more detailed explanation
of what each of those options do, perhaps in a hover-over bubble.

We put some less frequently changed options into the menu in order to save
space and tidy the UI.
Currently, all options under "Walk Behaviour" are not saved.

How do you know they are less frequently used? Did you run a survey?

And the Show Log dialog is usually the one where people maximize for the whole
screen so they can actually read what's in it. Which would normally leave
plenty of room for a bunch of check boxes at the bottom. It is not as pretty,
but it's FAST and FUNCTIONAL.

This "tidy up" now leaves these 2 check boxes, one of which I always see as
Grayed out anyway. "Show Whole Project" is never visible to me, I'm not even
sure what it is. And I never want to see "All Branches".. whatever it's
showing me by default is already too much when I'm in a branch. I'd just want
to see "First Parents".

In fact, I am a user that maximize Log Dialog most of the time, whenever the
screen width is 1280px or 1920px.
However, the default width of Log Dialog is around 630px, which is almost half
of 1280px.

I totally agree with the reporter and found this is a duplicate of my new issue
for the hidden "Follow Renames" option. I also wish the option was
saved/stored for later use.

We don't store this, because if you open the log on a folder, we've to reset
the setting, becasue it's not applicable for folders.

Ok, that makes sense, but can't you save the setting only for file usage since
it is a don't-care for folders.

This would be extremely useful when importing from another version control
system to Git and wanting to save the history. We wish to import to git then
perform a git mv (rename) to re-organize folders for git branch efficiency, but
at the same time keep the nice TortoiseGit log history. Having to remember to
check this option under Walk Behavior if error prone for users.

I would vote to at the very least change the appearance of the buttons to
resemble drop down menus rather than simple push buttons.
Users could not be expected to know that these are drop down menus. Their
appearance communicates that they are push buttons which have simple functions
like "Refresh" and "Statistics" (though I would also prefer "Show Statistics"
seeing as the button opens a new window), but apparently looks can be deceiving.
I lost the "follow renames" checkbox a while back, and simply assumed it had
been removed.

In reply to post 14, I suggest the little down arrow triangle chevron thingy
that you see sometimes, but I don't think it's a very big deal.

Adding an down arrow/trianlge on the buttons is a very good idea!
