I was reading that there are people that it doesn't work for them or that they get banned. I wanted to know if it works for someone or it only works in versions prior to 2.1.2.04 (in that case, could someone provide me with an installer for that version?)

For some people, this still works with even the latest version (see https://github.com/gucci-on-fleek/lockdown-browser/issues/65#issuecomment-2143673148); for others, it hasn't worked since 3 months ago (see https://github.com/gucci-on-fleek/lockdown-browser/discussions/53#discussioncomment-8909229 and https://github.com/gucci-on-fleek/lockdown-browser/issues/65#issue-2206925789).

It's not clear exactly why it works for some people but not for others; my personal hypothesis is that it still works for the plain Lockdown Browser, but not when also used with Respondus Monitor (the webcam thingy). And in all the reports that I've seen, you get a warning before you get banned, so in theory it's safe to test this with a real exam exactly once (see https://github.com/gucci-on-fleek/lockdown-browser/issues/68#issuecomment-2128510779). This is all just a guess though, so proceed at your own risk.
