I also have this issue. Also seeing "Address space collision" on startup.
Not sure if it is related but the graphics card shares the main memory with
384mb.
The VGA bios version is ATI VGA ver012.036.000.029.041128.
I have updated to the latest BIOS.
This is a great peace of programming. It boots fast, is very responcive and is
low on resource use. I have 30gb of disk space compared to the 15gb when
windows is installed.
If there is anything you need to solve this issue please message me and i will
help immediatly.
Kind regards
Daniel

Hi all
I have managed to solve the "ROM address issue" by doing this:
http://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Error_message_on_boot:_Address_space_collision:
_host_bridge_window_conflicts_with_Adaptor_ROM
Kind regards

Daniel,
Thanks for finding this. I made the change in the boot file and while it does
stop the address space collision error during boot, it has not stopped my W500
from generating a pixel screen crash after 15 to 20 minutes of use. Have
you found that this change resolves your screen crash issues?

I have the same problem. Although I have updated the new bios, the problem
still occurred. On the other hand, no sound, can not play movie (e.g. youtube,
pps etc.)

There's another active thread with the w500 that's getting more feedback than
this one and has some recent fixes, specifically with loading an updated video
driver that improves the screen crash issues somewhat, but not completely.
Here's the link:

Hi! My final installation of ICS Android on Acer IconiaTab W500:
- Prepare SD Memory (I am using 4g SD, I tried 16g SD, but it's very slow) for
Android System
- Prepare USB Memory (I use 2g USB) for installation
- Download "unetbootin-windows-563.exe"
- Download "android-x86-4.0-amd_brazos-20111209.iso"
- Insert SD and USB Memory
- Format SD and USB Memory with FAT32
- Release the SD Memory
- Run unetbootin, ISO->
Select->"android-x86-4.0-amd_brazos-20111209.iso"->select USB Memory drive->OK
- Shut Down the machine
- Boot W500 and go to bios setup, select the USB Memory for the first boot
- Reboot again with pressing "power button and Windows key" for USB boot
- When u see the menu, select the Install Android (no enter), insert SD Memory,
Now you can <enter>
- No need to format the SD again, Just install the Android
- Install grub, no need to create fake usb
- Wait for a few minutes ...
- Shut down the machine when u see the installation completed and a menu
- Release the USB
- Boot the windows
- Edit the menu.lst in grub folder on SD (use WordPad on windows)
- Add a command "pci=nocrs" (avoid space collision), listed as below:
title Android-x86 2011-12-09
kernel /android-2011-12-09/kernel pci=nocrs quiet root=/dev/ram0 androidboot.hardware=amd_brazos acpi_sleep=s3_bios,s3_mode SRC=/android-2011-12-09
initrd /android-2011-12-09/initrd.img
- Save
- Shut down the machine
- Now u can boot the android system with pressing "power button and Windows
key" from SD boot.
Eyerying Fine. Multi Touch Ok, Wifi Ok, Fast
Unfortunately, the screen still crashes periodically, No sound, No Video movie
playing
Anybody can solve the above problems clearly? especially the the screen crash
problem.

Just loaded the 12/25 brazos build. Sound works, wifi works, and Touch
works. Nice! Display still flashes periodically, but screen crashes are much
less frequent. So definite progress on the screen issue, but the lack of a
functional browser is really unfortunate. I've tried several browsers without
success.

Did U install on Acer W500?
The muti touch function works on my W500 (I tried installation many times).
Pls ref to the comments above.
We mentioned sound works, wifi works, browser not works.
The android system is only for my son playing games.
If u want to use the browser, u can install "Android-x86 2011-12-09".
But the sound not works.

Try booting with the tablet undocked and see if touch works. If it does you
can redock it after boot to get leyboard/mouse control. If you need it docked
in order to make a boot selection into android then undock it immediately after
making the selection.

I am also having the display corruption issue, as well as no browser working on
1225 Brazos (Acer laptop 5253-BZ661, Radeon HD 6310) WiFi and all other apps
that use the Internet work beautifully
The display corruption happens when coming out of hibernation, or when
switching to another tty console and back using the Ctrl+Alt+ F1, etc keys
I'm very impressed with this otherwise, I'd like to run it full time on my
laptop once this issue is fixed! =D battery life is PHENOMENAL with Android
compared to a full OS.
Will this likely be a fix I can do myself? Or will we have to reinstall? I'm
trying to decide whether to tough it out or install an older version

Yes, I'm using a W500. Can't get multi-touch in docked or undocked mode. Not
sure why. Get the screen corruption that everyone else his having as well. It
happens after the screen blanker kicks in.

I'm also testing android-x86-4.0-amd_brazos-20120101.iso on my W500. Seems
much snappier than the previous version and thankfully the browser is working
now. Everything is working EXCEPT touch screen. Also, I'm side booting ICS
from the SD card. Is anyone else booting from SD card and also missing touch?
It seems like the folks booting from the internal hard drive aren't having this
problem. Comments?

I can confirm the same eventual pixel crash issue using 20120101 ICS 4.0 Brazos
on an Acer Aspire 5253-BZ661. Everything else is amazing

Please try the new 4.0 Brazos build. I have been up and running for 45
minutes! The last build was 20 minutes at best. I still can not play video,
but Android Sounds work.

Running this android-x86-4.0-amd_brazos-20120101.iso build from SD-card
(installed from USBB) on my Acer Iconioa W500 makes it very workable (with the
instruction of comment 6). The Windows 7 partition is not affected.
Some applications rotate the screen, without rotating it back after closure,
but ticking the Camera icon rotates it back (without the camera working).
The screen timeout has to be set to 30 minutes, because when the system goes
into standby, the screen is messed up and not able to recover. Is there a way
to set the timeout to unlimited/off?
Sound works, wifi works, touch works.
The graphics are not ok, the screen flickers and the browser screen is often
messed up, but moving the contents in the browser helps to redraw the contents.
All in all a very usable build, keep up the good work to create an even better
one with all functionality!

I also installed the 4.0 Brazos build on my iconia w500 from USB. Made the USB
from lili USB creator. The weird thing was that it would only boot if I used my
old 1gb thumb drive, it would lock up if I used a newer one. My old drive is 5
or more years old, can't remember exactly. I installed to the SSD and haven't
had serious problems yet, just very few functional apps.

Youtube & other web-streaming videos used to work with 3.2 Brazos. I wonder
why the videos won't play with the ICS version. Can there be a simple way to
bring just the video functionality to the ICS?
