android-x86-4.3-20130725.iso
on my eeepc
can't play youtube
can't play dramafever
firefox couldn't be installed

I ran the iso from vmplayer and it was snappy to load up so I decided to flash
it on a usb drive to go for a test drive. It boots up quickly, asks the normal
setup android questions and then you end up at the android desktop. It's
responsive, but I am thoroughly surprised with all the difficulties I
encountered running youtube, dramafever and firefox using x86 android.

Is there any documentation somewhere as to how to build android x86 apps?
androidx86 and chromeos are targetted towards the same netbook space from what
I can see. It's certainly confusing as a developer.
Java compiles once, runs anywhere seems to be out the window with this mess.
Golang has a better probability at succeeding and the package management is
much easier. Debian is still runs better on this eeepc. Runs any application
including android emulators albeit slow as hell.

Debian Linux with x86 hardware is still better than any ARM hardware with any
OS.
Experiences like this one confirms I shouldn't waste my time with any operating
system that targets ARM hardware first(i.e. ChromeOS and Android). It also
confirms I shouldn't waste my time on ARM hardware either until they get
Debian/Ubuntu Desktops running on ARM as expected when compared with x86
hardware. I'll check back in a couple of years, but I'm not holding my breath.
The retailers are still selling 32-bit ARM hardware, which is like so 1998!
Where is the 8-core 64-bit ARM?
Don't waste our time with this dual-core 32-bit ARM crap you guys are dumping.
GOOGLE, don't waste our time on this android/chromeos crap that isn't as
versatile as a standard GNU/Linux Desktop. People will eventually realize a
full-featured GNU/Linux Desktop is certainly more able to do any task
imaginable than any Android/ChromeOS/Playbook operating system manufacturers
are forcing down people's throats. This is 2013 already. Multi-core 64-bit
Debian/Ubuntu on x86 with a GPGPU is where it's at. Try that on a desktop,
laptop or on an x86 tablet if you must, but do invest more time in Debian or
Ubuntu than in all the other wannabe operating systems. DEBIAN and UBUNTU does
save time and productivity for everyone. All the other operating
systems(NON-GNU/Linux) are slowly and subtly creeping-in more DIGITAL
RESTRICTIONS that are taking away your digital freedoms and forcing you to pay
for every service you like including scratching your b... ahem nose. Don't be
fooled by APPLE and Microsoft and RIM(aka Blackberry). Place your trust in
non-profits for your operating system. Read more about this at the FSF.
