What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to make a noise via changing notification sounds
2. Attempt to record

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to hear noise, hear nothing
Cannot connect to microphone

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using android-x86-4.0-asus_laptop-20120101.iso

Please provide any additional information below.
Running on Lenovo X61
