Black screen at boot up #792

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start up in debug mode (same problem with all mode)
2. type exit 2 times
3. when typing last 'exit' to start android the screen come black and hard disk 
works but nothing is doing. I can't access to any shell too.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected the android splash screnn but i've just black screen (no prompt, no 
tty)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
4.0 RC1 from android-x86-4.0-RC1-eeepc.iso install on hard disk on eeepc 
1001PXD.

Please provide any additional information below.
system Partition is ext3.
boot with grub2 (dual boot with ubuntu) 
menuentry "Android-x86 4.0 (Debug mode)" {

works fine with live system

resolved by changing  androidboot_hardware to androidboot.hardware

i've changed the options for the menu_entry. I've replaced the option name 
"androidboot_hardware" by "androidboot.hardware" and its works finely.

Hope it'll be the same for you.

i have the same issue, but i couldn't fix it that way....still the same...sony 
vaio fw21j 
live works fine,except for wifi

is there a way to re boot from flash drive after I installed android it says 
not part of system files

live don't even work on mine and the ba d part is I installed over windows and 
kont know what to do since I installed android it wont even let me boot from 
flash drive to re install it

I'm on windows... where is the file/command I need to change located at? I 
usually just click start on the AVD Manager.

Dude how did you do it? It annoys me to see when people are all like "oh nvm i 
figured it out!" When i came here to learn how to fix it!

Solved by disable screen lock on setting->security..
