Challenge Suggestion #236

Context

This would help prevent exploiting the challenge system, plus add a new option for challenges

Don't have to worry about giulds exploiting the challenge system. From what was explained on discord about challenges is that right now anyone can challenge other guilds for guild wars. however, a player could easily use alts to bypass the cooldown to create more challenges and get free rewards.

Possible Implementation

What I suggest is a fee/wager to join a challenge. The feature would add a dollar amount to the command when setting up a challenge, if you accept the challenge then the fee is taken and put into a trust. The winning guild gets the fee that all the guilds had to pay to enter the challenge.

1) An alt can't start a new guild immediately, there is a startup fee that he most likely won't have. 2) You need a minimum number of members (default 3) in a guild to accept a challenge in most cases 3) That's considered ALT ABUSE and will get you banned on most servers.

goflishMC commented 5 years ago

it's not just about the alt abuse, it's more about having that fee/wager feature. that was just something that would be a 2ndary benefit to having that fee for challenges i don't like creating "things for nothing" they are just fighting each other to get rewards. that feature means they would have to earn some money first and then enter challenges and get rewarded by taking other guilds money that also had to earn a bit before enterting the challenge

You fee limits rewards to only be a monetary sum, and does very little to add depth to the Guild War system.

goflishMC commented 5 years ago

I wasn't saying it had to be the only reward, just something extra as an option.

wolfebersahd commented 5 years ago

And what would stop a Guild that has obviously better PvPers from betting the absolute maximum and stealing as much as they can from other Guilds repeatedly, causing them to rage-quit?

wolfebersahd commented 5 years ago

Fees also means gambling, and gambling can lead to problems with server owners and EULA stuff if the server currency is purchasable in any way.

goflishMC commented 5 years ago

that doesn't make sense, if you keep losing why would you keep paying to enter the challenge?

Also, that logic means that giving items as rewards shouldn't be allowed either because if players could buy in game currency with real money they could use that same in game currency to buy those items from the guilds that win.

This is an added feature, it takes nothing away from the plugin and only adds more options for server owners.

Gambling is gambling, when you "bet" to win the pot on winning or losing.

Trading is trading, when you exchange currency for goods. There are no odds of winning or losing, it's a straight forward trade.

And by your logic

if you keep losing why would you keep paying to enter the challenge?

They hope they can win, OR, then nobody will accept the challenge cause they don't want to lose the "bet" money.

The item rewards, or currency rewards, or any other command style rewards from PARTICIPATING in the guild war is a more globally accepted feature. I don't see many servers (I actually haven't seen any, but I'm pretty sure there are some out there) charging players to play different game mode. Most mini-games are just queue up and play, with no buy-ins, and still give the winners rewards.
