This PR changes the way the synthetic dataset is generated. Now it is generated when running the first documentation notebook. All notebooks have also been reviewed, and any necessary manual intervention removed, i.e. the three documentation notebooks can be fully run without intervention. A few bugs discovered while updating docs have also been fixed.
