Support for Chinese pinyin #424

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Modern Chinese teaching are based on pinyin.
Therefore for all those internet tools who help people to learn Chinese, the
Google API support will be of great help.

I myself, is developing an internet cellphone web apps to help learning the
pinyin of randoms words. Having the pinyin support would be very helpful.

yet, I'm very surprised to not find it in the open issues, so i hope it's the
correct place to suggest it.

Thanks

And i also though about doing an extension for Chrome which would add the
pinyin on top
of every Chinese character of a Chinese website.

Come on Google, DONT BE EVIL...

Other developers <mark@embermitre.com> are striving hard to develop excellent
apps for the foreign multitudes trying to navigate the Asian language world,
and doing a good job so far... but you are hampering progress with restrictions
like these...

sort it out, its good for consumers, good for developers, and therefore good
for you...

you make huge money from advertising so hand it over!!!

It wd seem to me to b a no brainer. One nd only look as far as Apple to see
what happens when u try & restrict (or more to the pt-control) such things.
They hd the opportunity to essentially hv the lion's share. They cd hv had
essentially complete domination. But in trying to control their product they
became prisoners of themselves. End result...let's tk a look at their recent
adventure w iPhones. They come up w some big ingenuity & rule for a bit & then
someone takes off w something similar, only it's not Apple OS, but Android or
similar w an open format & zoom Apple is behind again. They can't stop people
from being inquisitive & creative. Don't lose opportunity.

Google is making it in the translate web page with the "Read Phonetically"
check box. I hope it won't be that hard to implement! My vote goes for it.
