Language API returning error

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. This started happening in my translate api page, but you can also see it
in Google's own code example:
http://www.google.com/uds/samples/language/translate.html
2. Use above page to try to translate
3. Result is "Error Translating"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Translation of text is expected output, but currently getting "Error
Translating"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Language API v. 1

Please provide any additional information below.
The code has  been working for a long time, not sure if something in the
API has changed, or it's something else on the back end?

Just realized this seems to be happening as a result of an upgrade to Firefox 
3.6.3,
does not happen in IE8 or Chrome. This is on a Windows PC, and seems to be 
specific
to Vista (works in Win 7 with same version of FF).
