Source should be version-tagged. #32

While the download .zip file is currently tagged as "version 3", I can't find 
any mention of the version number in the source itself...  Presumably the 
current source should have a version number somewhere that is larger than 3...  
(There should also be a way to tag the mercurial repository with meaningful 
names, I think.)

Actually, it would be a really good idea to tag the binary with a version 
number too, if there is as little as one byte left (byte 511 ?)  This could be 
read by programmers, or perhaps even by applications reporting on overall 
device status...
(not quite sure how to get that in the right spot, though.)
