Pidgin crashes on incoming message with Global menu enabled #454

IMPORTANT: Before reporting an issue, make sure it hasn't been fixed in the
latest version:
http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/issues/list?q=label:Milestone-
Release0.7.4
Make also sure to use an up-to-date Vala version.
------------------------
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start Pidgin
2.Have another user initiate a conversation (it is important that no
conversation window with the other user is currently open).
3. Pidgin crashes (most of the time).

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.7.5 on Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit
Pidgin is 2.5.5 with no special plugins other than the SIPE protocol
plugin. (The crash does not appear to be related to this plugin since I do
not experience crashes if global-menu is not running)

Please provide any additional information below.

This doesn't mean the plugin has nothing to do with the crash, it might also
affect
global menu in an unexpected way (or the other way round, as you stated).

Try disabling the PLUGIN and ENABLING Globalmenu. Does this crash still occur
then?

If you need to try sending messages, and you have a second computer next to
you, try
sending a message via Bonjour, it doesn't need any configuration (just add an
pidgin
account with bonjour-protocol and enter any name - done!).

Regards
Ben

Is pidgin still crashing on 0.7.7 where 408 is fixed?

Unfortunately because of this bug and a few others I went back to 32 bit for
the time being. Probably can close
the ticket though.
