Window controls disappear when switching between apps under gnome2 #659

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. switch between apps with gnome2-globalmenu running
2.
3.

What is the expected output?
being able to see the window close, minimize, and maximize controls on window 
title bar

What do you see instead?
blank window title bar with no controls on it, but tooltips emerge when mouse 
hovers over controls and controls still work - though are rendered invisible. - 
and of course no window title text.

What version of the Global Menu are you using? On what operating system?
Using version 0.7.9 under Gnome2 on Ubuntu 10.04 with compiz
System Config: Linux 32-bit 2.6.32-29-generic-pae #58-Ubuntu

What version of Vala are you using? (if your Global Menu is built from git)
ppa version - not from source

Please provide any additional information below.
PS: the font of the menu appears dictated by some default of the panel.  I'd 
like to change it to match the window title bar
