music instruments are lame. use fmod for music

Again, your ticket is extremely poor.
Using fmod won't enhance the music in any way since the music MIDI played via 
an OPL3 emulator.

If you have the required skills, you could write/import a different MIDI 
system/emulator to the game to suit better to your taste.

Also, keep in mind that fmod is a proprietary and closed source library. 
Switching to fmod will break the portability of the game.
Therefore it's a very bad idea and it's definitely not worth it.

Tyrian's Loudness Sound System was built for AdLib's FM Synthesis -- not FMOD.
